⭐HOT THIS WEEK

Big news for cricket in the States — the Rajasthan Royals have officially launched their academy in Washington, bringing world-class coaching and player development to US soil.

For young cricketers, it’s a chance to learn from the best in the game, with structured programs that mirror the Royals’ high-performance pathway. For coaches and parents, it’s a sign of how quickly the game is growing in the US, and the opportunities now available to tap into elite-level education and training.

🏏BATTING LAB

Here’s a batting drill set that will get you used to facing extreme speed fast bowling. From the slingly left arm of Starc to the bounce and raw pace of Archer - this guide will give players the tools to prepare, adapt and thrive against the quickest in the game.

🎯BOWLING LAB

Graeme Swann sits down with Michael Bracewell to discuss off-spin in the modern game. From tactical plans in The Hundred to the finer points of flight, drift, and control, the pair break down what it takes to outthink batters in high-pressure environments.

🧤FIELDING LAB

A young Joe Root takes us through an England drill pre SA test. Has this drill stood the test of time? Groups of four worked on four stations with 12 minutes work each. Coaches - let us know your thoughts! What is your current number 1 go-to fielding drill?

🧠THE MIND GAME

Dan Abrahams argues that building belief isn’t about slogans — it’s about three things:

  1. Shared mental models — not just around tactics, but around mindset. Players need to train a shared language and behaviours that define their “high-performance mindset” (HPM).

  2. Training pressure, not just success — if practice is too easy, players know it. Coaches must add constraints, overloads, or consequences so teams learn to succeed under stress.

  3. Brace for failure but flood the narrative with high-performance mindsets (HPM) — prepare players for mistakes, momentum shifts, fatigue and pressure, but constantly reinforce that their HPM is non-negotiable, regardless of setbacks.

For cricket coaches, the parallel is clear: it’s not just about the technical plan, but the shared mindset under pressure. Whether defending the final overs or chasing down a target, the question is — have you trained your team’s belief to hold firm when it matters most?
